Specifications:

The HP 4100 SmartChip is enclosed in  a small, black case with an adhesive.  To install, all you need to do is remove the adhesive and stick the small case onto the cartridge.

NOTE:  It is possible to print WITHOUT installing a new HP 4100 SmartChip, but the printer will have an error message.  Replacing the SmartChip removes the error message.
